Jan McComas-Birchfield -President

Hi, I’m Jan Birchfield!

I fell in love with photography the minute my Dad gave me my first camera when I was 10. Photography became my passion. To me, taking pictures has always been a way of holding onto memories. It’s a way of keeping moments captured in time as a record of your life. Memories fade but photographs do not. I love creating images that captures the spirit.

Now, a little more about me! I have a wonderful husband, his name is John, he’s a fabricator. We have three children, J.L., Paul, and Stephanie. We’re also blessed to have four grandchildren, Cameron, Lil’ Paul, Carrie, and Julian, also a baby girl on the way! We also have four dogs that are part of our family.

I am a student at Antonelli College. I will graduate in June 2008 with a degree in Photography with Applied Business. I am a member of American Society of Media Photographers and Wedding and Portrait Photographers International.
I love the fact that you are checking out my website and I look forward to working with you!

I've been taking pictures since I could afford my first SLR back in the 80's. I have since
invested in a digital camera but still shoot quite a bit of film, these days it tends to be toy camera or 4X5 transparencies through a pinhole camera. I love trying out new photographic techniques and just want to learn everything there is to know about photography.

My newest adventure has been HDR's in the digital world. These are fascinating creatures with light-shifting characterists. They can change from realisitic to surreal in the blink of ones mind. Catch one if you can!

SUZANNE HAEGELE

After completing a year of majoring in Fine Arts at University of Cincinnati, Suzanne moved to Atlantic City, NJ to help care for her grandfather suffering from Alzheimer's. School was set aside, but her love of the arts and her Minolta Maxxum SLR was not. She'd been shooting thousands of rolls of film since her freshman year of high school, and was always told her photographs were a little more impressive than her paintings and drawings.

Deciding to attend Antonelli after moving back to Ohio hasn't stopped her from painting, but has developed her passion for art and proving photography is a FIne Art, too. Half way through the program, to say she's learned a lot would be an understatement. She's excited to take on new locations, people and animals to shoot, and is optimistic about a future in the arts. Wherever that may be.

My passion for Photography cannot be compared to anything that interest me most, it was hidden inside my heart all those years that people around me never knew until I met my loving husband Tom, he has given me the chance to pursue my dreams that I would never thought would come true.
By enrolling at Antonelli College in Cincinnati, I had the opportunity to enhance my skills as a Photographer. Special thanks to Gerilyn Frey whom I considered as one of my mentor, I always called her my “First Lady” because she was the first one to introduce me with anything I need to learn as a Photographer, handling my first SLR camera, darkroom printing including my first hands on computer.
Steve Floro continued training me in my darkroom technique. John Engelman taught me well for my lighting and studio artworks and Andrea Millette for helping me out with my computer skills and continuous support for the Antonelli Photo Geeks Club.
Credit for Jim Poole for donating the birth of our website and helping the students and the staff to be web wizards.
Without the Antonelli Photography staff, I would never become the person I am today. My husband Tom never failed to support me all this time and I considered myself very lucky to have him in my life.
Wherever I go I would take Antonelli, my mentors, my husband and my family in my heart and make them be proud of me.
